Overview

A fresh, vibrant and approachable Shiraz grown at Yangarra Estate’s certified organic and biodynamic vineyard in Blewitt Springs. Its medium-bodied profile brings a lighter touch to classic Australian Shiraz, combining lively dark fruit, floral detail, warm spice and finely judged tannins.

Yangarra Estate specialises in southern Rhône varieties grown across its McLaren Vale property, where altitude, ancient geology, ironstone-rich sandy soils and maritime influence contribute freshness, clarity and distinctive site expression.

Vineyard

The estate vineyard is situated approximately 180 metres above sea level on North Maslin Sands formed around 54 million years ago. Its ironstone and sandy soils, elevated position and Mediterranean climate provide favourable conditions for expressive, balanced Shiraz.

Vintage

A normally wet winter was followed by a dry spring. Unexpected rainfall during December and January encouraged larger bunches and berry development, while warm conditions through February and early March promoted even ripening and concentrated flavour.

Winemaking

The estate-grown fruit was picked, destemmed and sorted into open stainless-steel fermenters. Wild fermentation was followed by gentle maceration on skins for 15 days. The wine matured on lees for 11 months in seasoned French oak puncheons and foudre before bottling in February 2025.

Medium weighted, with subtly blue-tinged florals and seasoned with warm spices: tart boysenberry, dark cherry, red plum, blueberry. It’s an effortless little number, all serene glide on the palate, though with house signature tannic detail, if dialled down for the intended purpose. Lovely.
