Overview

The 2024 Dhillon Merlot & Friends is a poised, medium-weight red from Glenhope Vineyard, led by Merlot with smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Bindi describes the Glenhope fruit as having exceptional purity, producing a complex and savoury wine with plum, cassis, earth and cedar supported by fine, chewy tannins and freshness.

Vineyard

The fruit is sourced from Glenhope Vineyard in Victoria. Merlot makes up approximately half of the blend, accompanied by descending proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

Producer Tasting Notes

Bindi Winegrowers: “The nose has depth and is brooding with classic Merlot plum and Cabernet lift. Subtle chocolate, cassis, earth and cedar make further statements as to the varietal mix. The palate is fresh and midweight. There is berry lift, fine and chewy tannin carrying the poised fruit weight for a flowing, balanced finish. Delicious.”

Producer

Bindi is a family wine producer established by Bill and Michael Dhillon in 1988. Based in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges, Bindi is best known for small-production Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, while the Dhillon range extends the family’s winemaking approach to selected vineyards and varieties beyond the home estate.

Michael Dhillon worked as assistant winemaker to Stuart Anderson from 1991 until assuming full responsibility in 1998. His experience includes vintages in Champagne, Crozes-Hermitage and Tuscany, together with extensive study of Burgundy.
