Overview
Giodo Brunello di Montalcino is Carlo Ferrini’s flagship expression of Sangiovese, produced only from the estate’s healthiest and most carefully selected fruit. The 2020 combines aromatic freshness and vibrant red fruit with savoury complexity, refined tannins and impressive depth, showing intensity without heaviness and the structure for extended cellaring.
Vineyard
The Sangiovese vines are approximately 20 years old and grow at around 300 metres above sea level with a south-eastern exposure. The vineyard is planted on medium-textured, pebble-rich soils and trained to spurred cordon at a density of approximately 6,600 vines per hectare.
Winemaking
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for approximately nine days, followed by around 20 days of skin contact. The wine then matures for approximately 30 months in 500-, 700- and 2,500-litre French oak casks, followed by a period in concrete vats and approximately 18 months of bottle ageing before release.

Producer
Giodo was founded by Carlo Ferrini in Montalcino in 2002, with his daughter Bianca now closely involved in the project. The name Giodo pays tribute to Carlo’s parents, Giovanna and Donatello, while the estate’s philosophy centres on meticulous vineyard work, purity of fruit and the pursuit of elegance.
Only the finest Sangiovese parcels are selected for the estate’s Brunello di Montalcino. Careful vineyard selection, restrained extraction and extended maturation in French oak, concrete and bottle are used to build complexity and longevity while retaining balance and finesse.
