Overview
A single-vineyard Tokaji Aszú from Disznókő's Kapi Vineyard, the 2015 Kapi Vineyard Aszú 6 Puttonyos is made entirely from Furmint. The Kapi site lies high on the southern slopes of Disznókő, where volcanic soils and an early-ripening mesoclimate favour intensely concentrated Aszú berries while preserving excellent acidity. Rich and opulent yet precisely balanced, this is a distinguished expression of one of Tokaj's historic sweet-wine traditions.
Vintage
The 2015 growing season was hot and dry, with summer heat waves bringing early ripening. Aszú berry selection began on 21 September. The Kapi Vineyard fruit used for this wine came entirely from the first passage, particularly between 23 September and 1 October, yielding extremely rich, fully shrivelled berries with only slight botrytis. Later rainfall encouraged further noble rot across the wider estate, while the base-wine grapes were harvested during the first half of November.
Vineyard
Kapi is a single-vineyard plot situated at 150–180 metres above sea level on the upper southern slopes of Disznókő. Its lighter volcanic clay soils contain abundant rhyolite gravel. Planted to Furmint, the site is characterised by earlier ripening and favourable conditions for Aszú berry development while retaining excellent acidity.
Winemaking
Individually selected Aszú berries were stored in stainless steel before vinification, then macerated uncrushed for two days in actively fermenting must. Following a long pressing, fermentation continued in stainless steel vats and small barrels until mid-December. The wine was matured for two years in 225-litre oak barrels, with 25% new oak, and bottled in May 2018.
Producer Tasting Notes
“It has light gold colour with green reflex. The nose is beautifully floral with vanilla, white fruit notes. The mouth is intense, rich, with plenty of fruits like pineapple and mango. Mouthfilling and structured driven by ripe and round acidity and tannins.”

Critic Reviews
98 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“This gold-flecked, amber-colored Hungarian sweet wine is made from 100% Furmint grapes harvested from the Kapi Vineyard. It has aromas of ripe peach, honeysuckle, white flowers and pear. In the mouth it is velvety smooth, with flavors of apricot preserves, honeycomb, peach and pear. Luscious sweetness is offset by bracing acidity, making this an elegant example of a Tokaji Aszu.” – Jeff Jenssen

97 Points – James Suckling
“Really intense and concentrated with sweet pineapple, beeswax, lemon, honey and cream. Unctuous in the entry, but the mouthwatering acidity cuts it through and grows on the palate, giving it a bright and long finish. Drink or hold.”
