Critic Reviews
Falstaff — 99 Points
“Bright ruby red. A complex and profound nose, rich cherries, tobacco and oak, with dark savoury notes. Very juicy on the palate, with very well-integrated tannins, finely creamy, multilayered, very elegant, balanced and harmonious, wonderful finesse on the finish, great!”

Orazio Campoli — 97 Points
“This is a amazingwine from a vintage that is being hailed as one of the modern greats. Sourced from vines with an average age of over 25 years at the historic Tenuta Greppo, the 2019 Biondi Santi is a profound Brunello. The nose soars with wild cherry, blood orange, dried rose, and notes of iron and incense. The palate is structured and graceful, with a formidable framework of noble, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity that promises incredible longevity.”

Wine Enthusiast — 96 Points
“Expansive, even exuberant, this is a Brunello that pushes back against expectations in a graceful and most welcome way. A satisfying density anchors the soaring acid and ripe but still tart fruit.”

Producer
Biondi-Santi is one of the historic names of Tuscany and is closely associated with the origins of Brunello di Montalcino. The family's connection with Brunello dates to the 19th century, and Ferruccio Biondi Santi produced the first wine officially labelled “Brunello di Montalcino” in 1888.
The historic Tenuta Greppo estate lies at 564 metres above sea level near Montalcino. Biondi-Santi's vineyards comprise 32 hectares of Sangiovese across five plots, including five hectares planted between 1930 and 1972. The estate played an important role in the development of Brunello, including the selection of the BBS11 Sangiovese clone registered by Franco Biondi Santi in 1977.
Biondi-Santi follows a traditional approach centred on Sangiovese, relatively early harvesting and long maceration. The estate favours large, neutral Slavonian oak rather than new oak, producing Brunellos distinguished by fragrance, freshness, fine tannins and acidity, with the capacity to develop for decades.
